Helping in the Community

As well as helping people who attend the shed to feel less isolated, provide a place to go and things to do, we also try to help in the community and do a few projects every year to help someone else whether it be a local school or another community group or cutting the grass for a neighbour. We like to try and help.

Doing some jobs for “Ronald McDonald House” - a residence for those parents and families of children who are having treatment in the Children’s hospital and its too far for them to travel back and fore to be with them.

  • Planting Spring and Summer bulbs

    Peter & Sarah planting Daffodils, Tulips and summer bulbs to bring some colour to the flower beds.

    Shelving units for families to store their things, Chris smoothing them down before the are painted with nice bright colours

  • Paint donated for the shelves from Russell Timber Technology

    Russell Timber Technology got in touch with us to donate off-cuts of timber but in the process of collecting it we knew a good home for their excess paint, and donated it to Ronald McDonald house for their shelving units.

  • Raised beds needing cleared of weeds

    We cleared the weeds ready for planting spring and summer bulbs and wild flowers.

Growing fresh produce for the community

  • Tending to the allotment

    Weeding at our allotment at South Western Allotments and then delivering some produce - potatoes, courgettes, tomatoes, cabbages and carrots to “Dig In” Community green grocer.

  • Providing produce for Urban Roots projects

    “Dig In” Community shop receiving produce from our raised beds, polytunnel and our allotment at South Western Allotments.

  • Playground repairs at St Constantine's Primary School

    Gordon & Denis repairing benches. They’ve been making planters and benches as well.

  • Maintenance and repairs at Horatio's Garden at the Queen Elizabeth University Hospital.

    Richard, John and John have been cleaning, sanding, painting and repairing structures in the garden at Horatio’s Garden which is there for patents with long-term conditions so that they can enjoy some outdoors whilst still being in hospital.
